Hardwood and the Oceanside: Can the two mix?
Wood reacts differently to changes in climate. Wise Flooring is experienced with the special environmental conditions of the Outer Banks and we take these factors into account when selecting hardwood products and laying floors. The type of wood (species), the width of the boards and the way that the wood is milled all contribute to the stability of the flooring. The installation process helps to insure the durability of the floors.

We know the Outer Banks, and Wise Flooring installs floors that last for generations.

It can't be avoided - sand gets in the house. How will this affect the floors?
Sand and the beach go hand-in-hand. Over several years hardwood floors will start to show wear. But basic steps can help to delay the wear of the floors. Floor mats can be placed at doorways to catch sand and sand can be cleaned off the floors. Normal use and traffic will also lead to wear over time. Chairs and other furniture should have protective coatings on the legs.

spacer How often do hardwood floors need to be refinished?
Wood floors will start to show wear in high-traffic areas such as doorways. Floors may need to be refinished after 8 to 12 years. Proper care and maintenance can help prevent wear.

I'd like to do the work myself. Can you help me to purchase the wood?
Yes. We regularly work with do-it-yourselfers. We're more than happy to assist you with your flooring project. Of course, when it comes to the time needed to complete the project and the cost of renting the appropriate tools, it may be worthwhile to take advantage of our expertise.

How do I select quality flooring products?
When purchasing hardwood flooring, look for the NOFMA stamp on oak flooring and the MFMA stamp on Maple flooring. This assures that the flooring meets the strict guidelines in grading and milling.

  Do you offer a warranty?
Yes, all projects are covered by a 1-year warranty.

  Are you insured?
Yes. Wise Flooring carries a $1 million dollar general liability policy and all employees are covered by workman compensation insurance. We encourage all General Contractors and homeowners to ask for proof of insurance before allowing any sub contractors to work on a project to protect themselves from liability due to injury or accidental damage
